SAS! Hailey Week Five PDF Print E-mail

In our fifth week of SAS! we discussed water pollution. We learned about the different types of pollution and the effect of upstream pollution on our downstream neighbors.

We played Jeopardy which got the kids in a fine competitive mood. With the olympics occuring during this time, we challenged our peers. Although there could only be one winner every team gave it their all.

We dicussed the different types of water pollution and where it comes from. In an imaginary senario we inherited some river front property and 1 million dollars to develop it any way we wanted. So we all drew our houses and features of our properties. We didnt know it but they all fit together so that we formed a river. All of our properties were alongside. With some food coloring we demostrated the cummulative effects of pollution to the river.

We were asked to collect water samples from our house so that we can investigate the qualities next week!

As we continue to explore the topic of water the kids will be coming home with questions about water.
