I gave my heart to the mountains the minute I stood beside this river with its spray in my face and watched it thunder into foam, smooth to green glass over sunken rocks, shatter to foam again... Wallace Stegner
Those of us who come to this valley, whether for a day or for a lifetime, have experienced moments such as this. We can each name a magical moment - discovering the earliest Spring Beauties of the year, a chance encounter with a moose and calf, or even first tracks on a bluebird day.
Through our education programs at the ERC, we seek to deepen those experiences for individuals, so that they can come to better know, understand, and love this place. We believe that a passion for place - from the youngest visitors to the most seasoned residents - will inspire individuals to protect and promote our precious resources.
When you are ready to learn more about that curious bird dipping in the river, the industriousness of a beaver, or the way in which the physics of snow can help you build a better snow cave, look to the ERC. Our programs for individuals, groups, and schools create a meaningful connection to this wild place.
