Wood River Valley in 10th Place in Regional Competition to Encourage Reusable Bags

As of the end of July, the Wood River Valley stood halfway up the hill, at slot #10 out of 20 participating towns. That puts our valley ahead of JacksonHole, Wyoming, and Park City, Utah, but behind towns like Vail, Aspen, Steamboat and Telluride, all in Colorado, and the contest isn't over for a few more weeks. There's still time to save more bags and move our Valley up in the standings. The biggest news about the challenge is that 2.5 million single-use bags have been saved by this effort.

The Wood River Valley is currently competing against other mountain towns in the C.A.S.T. 2009 Reusuable Bag Challenge. This challenge is a friendly competition to reduce the consumption of single-use bags from March 1 - September 1. The grand prize for the winning town is $5,000 toward a solar panel installation donated by Alpine Bank.
