 A mine has been proposed 25 miles upstream from Idaho's largest lake, Lake Pend Oreille near Sandpoint. The lake is scenic, known for its fishing and recreation. The proposed copper and silver mine, created by drilling underneath the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness in Montana could poison the lake with toxic heavy metals such as lead, arsenic and mercury. |
