Community Outreach

The connection between people and their environment is incredibly important to our livelihood. It’s easy to understand that connection when you’re completely surrounded by natural beauty and resources. We rely on the environment for every aspect of life, so we need to protect it. It can be overwhelming and scary to think about the huge environmental problems we face today. We believe that individuals, together as a collective, can create change. Together, we can keep our environment healthy, now and into the future. The Environmental Resource Center provides extensive community-based education through the following four programs:

Recycling Outreach and Action

We provide education on best recycling practices, making it easy to recycle. The ERC facilitates recycling at community events in order to reduce the amount of waste.

Pesticide Action

The overuse of landscape chemicals can do a lot of harm to our ecosystems. The ERC’s goal is to provide our community with knowledge of alternatives, so we turn to safe solutions first.

Pick Up for the Planet (PUP)

Dog waste is one of the largest water pollutants in the United States. Our PUP program provides a complimentary dog waste receptacle and bags at 16 trailheads throughout the valley.

Connecting People to Nature

These programs empower residents and visitors to take responsibility for their part in the health of the environment. We offer opportunities for community members to discuss the current issues we face and engage in solutions.
